Gabe Taylor photograph. Method drop.
Sometimes you have a day in the backcountry where the mountains just give it up. Where the conditions are good and the crew is ripping. This day in the Seagram’s Lakes area of the Whistler backcountry was one of those days. There were countless features and Shin Campos, Benji Ritchie, and Gabe Taylor just slaughtered it.
As the late April light started to get warm in the afternoon and it started to look like time to make our way down, Shin and Gabe spotted one last line; a cornice drop into a chute with a mandatory rock to clear. This kind of line is deceptively difficult to nail, especially with style like this. I only shot with Gabe a few days in my career, but what we lacked in quantity, we made up for in quality. This shot stays with me.
