One of the most famous natural features in the Whistler backcountry is a gap jump called “Perfect Jump.” Despite the name, it’s been known to chew riders up due to its tricky landing.
By 2003 I had shot this feature a number of times and was looking for a way to breathe some new life into it. On this day with Lukas Huffman, I watched as the shadow of the riders passed across the foreground and moved in to include it in the frame.
In the film days it was often days or weeks before we would have time to develop our film and see if our shots had worked out. Imagine my level of stoke when I pulled this image out of the box of slides. Still one of my all time favourite images.

The 13”x19” edition is limited to 10 numbered and signed prints. They will not be reprinted in this size and format.
The 8.5”x11” is an open edition.
